Life Framer Photography Prize Exhibition
EDITION VIII
See award winning work from 24 emerging, global photographers!
This traveling exhibition marks the culmination of the eighth edition of the Life Framer Photography Prize. It was shown in Johannesburg in May, Paris in June and will close out in Bloomington Indiana’s Pictura Gallery Nov 3 - 18. The Life Framer Competition has become a world-renowned platform for discovering and celebrating contemporary photography from amateur, emerging and professional artists around the globe. Life Framer is supported by a growing community of photographers, and is designed to champion creative culture.
This year, Pictura is pleased to be the representative gallery from the United States hosting the award winners’ exhibition. The show offers a sampling of the best work from several different genres, with photojournalism, abstract images, and many themes that are an active part of contemporary photography. The competition is judged by highly regarded industry professionals who are well-practiced in looking critically at photography. So while the categories are fairly straightforward, the images chosen in each category are often challenging, out-of-the box interpretations.
The exhibition showcases stunning contemporary photography each chosen across twelve months of diverse themes by globally acclaimed judges including photographers Steve McCurry, Holly Andres, Murray Fredericks and Pixy Liao, and curators and editors from the New York Times, TIME, Centre Pompidou and Fotografiska. Each theme – from Street Life to Colors to Home Sweet Home – is designed to encourage creativity, and the resulting selection of varied and challenging photography is testament to that. Join us Friday, November 3rd for the exhibition opening and to experience exciting photography from image-makers spanning Poland to the Philippines, via the UK, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Greece, the United States and more.
