It’s been powerful to see Charles Xelot​’s project, White Water presented in many different iterations as it travels from country to country. 

Xelot was the winner of Life Framer Series Award 2024 and a corresponding solo exhibition at Pictura Gallery. The work was recently shortlisted for the Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award. This summer, White Water was produced for projection on the big screen at the Les Rencontres d’Arles’ Night of the Year. And we’re happy to be able to share it here with you.

Music by Luke Atencio adds an eerie drone reminiscent of a submarine wandering through the endless sea. A sound echoes like the call of a foghorn. Low reverberations come in waves and then halt, so that it feels like the rocking of a ship. It’s a brilliant addition to the experience of the photographs.
