Come by Pictura Gallery Friday, August 5th during Gallery Walk and see Claire A. Warden's series, Mimesis on view and hear live music by local guitarist, Mike Reardon. Warden, physically manipulates sheets of photographic film to create black and white abstract forms. These compositions appear almost topographic or celestial, hovering on the edge of being recognizable. Viewers are left with the desire to know exactly what they are. Warden uses this visual tension to speak about knowledge and power, and the cultural pressure to clearly define individual identities.
